R.I.P. Corey Haim Posted 1 day, 18 hours ago by Otis Day

It's really too bad that nobody seemed real surprised that Corey Haim died last night.  No one really asks what he died from.  Part of that is because they said right away what it was from.  Part of it is because we all kinda know anyways.

I grew up during the time he was the big star.  I remeber thinking how much I wanted to be like Him and the other Corey.  I even trained my hair(yes I used to have some) to part down the middle like his did in one of his movies(License To Drive maybe?)

This is video of him from 2 years ago on set of a TV show he was filming in Canada.

This next video is maybe the reason we all don't seem so surprised by this.  It's hard to watch.  Maybe this is too soon....but it's out there, so here you go.

From yahoo.com:

LOS ANGELES – Corey Haim, a 1980s teen heartthrob for his roles in "Lucas" and "The Lost Boys" whose career was blighted by drug abuse, has died. He was 38.

Haim died at 2:15 a.m. Wednesday at Providence St. Joseph Medical Center in Burbank, Los Angeles County coroner's Lt. Cheryl MacWillie said.

An autopsy will determine the cause of death and there were no other details, she said. Police Sgt. Michael Kammert said there's no evidence of foul play.

Haim had flulike symptoms before he died and was getting over-the-counter and prescription medications, Police Sgt. William Mann said. The cause of death is unknown, Mann said.

"He could have succumbed to whatever (illness) he had or it could have been drugs. Who knows?" Mann said. "He has had a drug problem in the past."

Haim was taken by ambulance to the hospital from an apartment in Los Angeles near Burbank. The enormous complex is known as Oakwood and is popular with young actors, Kammert said.

Haim acknowledged his struggle with drug abuse to The Sun in 2004.

"I was working on Lost Boys when I smoked my first joint," he told the British tabloid.

"I did cocaine for about a year and a half, then it led to crack," he said.

Haim said he went into rehabilitation and was put on prescription drugs. He took both stimulants and sedatives such as Valium.

"I started on the downers which were a hell of a lot better than the uppers because I was a nervous wreck," he said. "But one led to two, two led to four, four led to eight, until at the end it was about 85 a day."

In 2007, he told ABC's "Nightline" that drugs hurt his career.

"I feel like with myself I ruined myself to the point where I wasn't functional enough to work for anybody, even myself. I wasn't working," he said.

The Toronto-born actor got his start in television commercials at 10 and earned a good reputation for his work in such films as 1985's "Murphy's Romance" and his portrayal of Liza Minelli's dying son in the 1985 television film "A Time to Live."

His career peaked and he became a teen heartthrob with his roles in the 1986 movie "Lucas," and "The Lost Boys," in which he battled vampires.

In later years, he made a few TV appearances and had several direct-to-video movies. He also had a handful of recent movies that have not yet been released.

But in 1997 he filed for Chapter 11 bankruptcy protection, listing debts for medical expenses and more than $200,000 in state and federal taxes.

His assets included a few thousand dollars in cash, clothing and royalty rights.

In recent years, he appeared in the A&E reality TV show "The Two Coreys" with his friend Corey Feldman. It was canceled in 2008 after two seasons. Feldman later said Haim's drug abuse strained their working and personal relationships.

In a 2007 interview on CNN's "Larry King Live," Haim called himself "a chronic relapser for the rest of my life."

Eat it er no? Posted 3 days, 16 hours ago by Otis Day

So I snuck down to Lori's office to steal some of her candy.  She has the best candy of anyone in the building.  It's gotten so bad, that sometimes when we come here on the weekends, the kids cry because her office is closed and we can't get the candy.  When she first started she used to buy all that fancy crap that you eat with a glass of wine.  Like dark chocolate ball things filled with liquor flavored crap.  I told her, "Just get some butterfingers, twix, sweetarts...come on, this isn't the big city!"  She obliged, and her office has become a meeting place ever since.  We have motion lights in the building, and her's is always on because even when she's not there....we all go in and grab a lil' somethin' somethin.

I just got back and realized one of the Twix bars I got was already opened.

opened twix bar

I'm not sure.  For one thing...she has tons of these, so I could just go get another.  But my Stepdad would be so mad(He owned a small grocery store for years....we always ate dented cans, brown banana's, and anything opened.)  How many people have come in contact with it since it was made?  It's not like a greeting card where everyones touching it every day.  It's been in a bag sealed up till she put them in her candy dish.  So......Eat it er no?

You know we humans have amazing balance.  We also are the only animals that know we're gonna die one day.  Which is why I can easily balance and run on a street curb with no problem...but put that sucker 5 or 10 feet up in the air(ala a balance beam) and I can barely take a step without falling.  It's because I understand the danger.

So explain THIS guy.  On the edge of a cliff riding a dirt bike.  No thanks...I'll stick to riding my bike at the gym where I can watch TV while I surf the web from my Droid.  I don't want to die.

lady gaga in the worst hat ever

I'm not sure what's more embarrassing....being seen with Lady Gaga in this terrible out fit....or being photograped holding her purse in front of a delivery truck out back of a resturant.  If you're going to sneak out the back door....wearing a regular hat may help.  You know...throw your hair up in a pony tail and put on a baseball cap.  But a hat that appears to made out of the hind legs of an antelope isn't helping.  Let's look at more of Lady Gaga's wonderful hat collection.  I'd love to see the hat boxes they come in.

And here's my favorite one.....there's actually no hat at all.  Just a crazy hair stylist.  "No no...I just wanted a little off the top!"

We Are The World by regular people Posted 2 weeks, 2 days ago by Otis Day

This is quite inspiring.  The theme of the song is the title....WE are the world.  But in each version, there really wasn't a representation of US.  The people that live, breathe, eat, work, love, laugh, cry, fight, struggle, overcome, and try again in the actual world.  THIS video sure feels more like we are actually the world.  Kudo's for the thought, time, and effort put into this version...what I will now call the perfect version of "We Are The World."

From Yahoo sports

Murray State freshman Isaiah Canaan typically spends a few minutes at the end of practice each day hoisting up crazy trick shots better suited for a game of H-O-R-S-E than anything else.

Never has he even attempted one quite like the shot he sank during an actual game on Tuesday night.

With the shot clock running down late in the first half against Southeast Missouri State, Canaan retrieved a loose ball just in front of the mid-court stripe and had no choice but to flick the ball at the basket from his knees. Against all odds, it banked in, giving Murray State a 29-12 lead and earning Canaan the No. 1 spot on SportsCenter's top plays on Wednesday.

"I've always dreamed of being on SportsCenter, but I never thought it would be like that," Canaan said by phone Wednesday. "We do some crazy shots after practice, but we'll either be behind the goal or somewhere in the stands. We've never been out there on the court on our knees. I still don't know how that went in."

Canaan's shot was the top story on Murray State's official athletic site on Wednesday, ahead of the team extending the nation's longest winning streak to 16 and clinching the Ohio Valley Conference title.

The Biloxi, Miss. native appeared on ESPN's First Take on Wednesday morning, conducted a series of interviews with local reporters in the afternoon and plans to recreate the shot for a Kentucky TV station in the evening.

"I'm going to see if I can get 3 out of 10," Canaan said. "I'm going to see if I can live up to that."

How will Canaan top that shot? The only way he can think of is to hit one just like it at the buzzer to win a game.

"I know coach definitely won't draw that play up, but if it happens that way, that would be wonderful," he said.

Here's what lost is really about! Posted 3 weeks ago by Otis Day

I'm about a season and a half behind on Lost.  Ever since I canceled pay TV I've lost my DVR....so i only get around to it online when I think about it.  So I'm still about 6 episodes from the end of LAST season.  But I'm pretty sure I know what's going on anyways.  I've had it figured out since day 1.  This is all a dream Bob Newhart is having.  Mark my words.
