Alleged Blackmailer Arrested

SHEBOYGAN, Wis. (WHBL) - An 18-year-old Sheboygan man is in custody after police say he used the website MySpace to blackmail young women into sending him revealing pictures of themselves.

Dalton Lee Vandeloo is charged with two counts of threatening to communicate derogatory information after authorities allege he used the social networking site to secure the provocative pictures of his victims. According to the criminal complaint, filed Friday in Sheboygan County Court, two women, one 20 and the other 22, had been contacted by Vandeloo on MySpace about incriminating photos he had of the 22-year-old.

Vandeloo, using an online pseudonym, asked the 20-year-old for a topless photo of herself and had told the 22-year-old that if she did not send him more pictures, he would upload the ones he already possessed to an online pornography website. Police executed a search warrant at Vandeloo’s home this past Wednesday where they located a computer with a folder entitled “blackmail” that had numerous photos of multiple women.

Vandeloo could face additional charges, possibly on the federal level, as he had contacted women in other states, threatening to extort them as well.
